As a lover of both health information and the media, I have always been intrigued when the two are combined. At first glance, it may seem as though health and the media are in two completely different realms. Most of the time, I think they are. This is also one of the biggest reasons why I think they are often combined to form a relationship that so many of us devour on a daily basis.
As our world becomes more technologically advanced, the way we communicate is becoming more media driven. As a result, the information we once sought by communicating with other humans is coming from a media source. The media is becoming the sole search engine for health questions and concerns, resulting in the common practice of the media as a health communication source.
Is this a bad thing or a good thing? Maybe it is. Maybe it isn't. Most of the time, it might just depend on the topic. This blog will serve as a place to discuss the ever popular idea of the media as a source for health information and the way it affects our society.
I plan to use my own experiences with health and the media as well as analysis of common health discussions that occur on a daily basis resulting in a healthy dose of media for all who are interested.
